Supporting Sustainability Everyday
Join us!
We hope you'll join in the fun at the festival,
as well as in the continuing efforts to care
for the Earth on which we all depend. Because we like to try new things, we are planning a reduced paper festival. You won't have to haul flyers and pamphlets around. As it turns out, saving trees can also free up a hand or two. Makes it easier to enjoy a cup of lemonade as you stroll through Jens Jensen Park, catch a few tunes from the main stage, or catch up with friends and neighbors in the historic business district of Ravinia. When you need to find the address of the exhibitor you spoke with, you'll find it here. Just click on the exhibitors' page to find all the people at the festival who can help each of us to do our part in moving towards sustainability, everyday.
ummm...
What is Sustainability?
Sustainable practices meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. An Ecological Footprint measures human impact upon the Earth, determining to what extent the Earth can absorb waste and regenerate resources with given human activity. Although great thinkers have dedicated much time and energy towards developing the Ecological Footprint model, there is some questioning as to whether the model adequately measures all relevant factors (This is pretty complex stuff! ) The following links provide two good sources for further information. See what you think.
